52 Project – a photo a week, every week, of each of my two lads

HUEY
Sadly our beloved dog Freddie passed away a couple of months ago, leaving a very big greyhound-shaped gap in our family. We miss him terribly and I still have little wobbles about him and can’t quite believe he’s not here. However, I do think it’s important to try to make the best of whatever life throws at you, and one of the disadvantages of having a very big dog and a very small yard was that any attempts to introduce any greenery were thwarted by toxic dog wee and poo. Nice! So to try to cheer ourselves up, Project Make A Garden has been in full force over the last few weeks. Adam has worked like a trojan getting rid of the old gravel, laying turf, fixing and painting the shed and planting flowers, shrubs, veggies and herbs. It’s looking so wonderful already and Huey is absolutely loving being a little gardener, planting seeds, romping around on the grass and squeezing his chubby little hands in the soil. This week he was particularly delighted with the watering can. I would still rather have Freddie back but that smile does go such a long way towards softening the blow.

JOE
Joe was off with his dad and out on his bike during our daylight hours in the garden this week, but I managed to drag him outside for the last little bit of sunlight before it disappeared over the yard fence. I can’t believe how grown up he looks now – every photo I take of him it makes my breath catch in my throat.
